OD Hunte returns with Is It Yours, the first release on his own label Southern Cuba Records. Debut single “The Fullest Side of the Moon” is already picking up Spotify algorithmic support, with “Times Like These” landing January 23, 2026. Follow the project on Spotify.
After several months of processing during the lockdown, we are excited that EMIPM UK have released their newest Hip Hop Album featuring 5 tracks by OD Hunte. OD comments, “A lot of Hip Hop production music I hear lacks soul and authenticity but I wanted to debunk that generalisation with these tracks and so I didn’t hold back creatively but created with the US rappers involved tracks that have the magic of commercial radio hits”.
OD worked hard to create fresh new tracks that had the warmth of old-school records from the 70’s using classic instrumentation such as brass strings and rhodes but more importantly processing the sounds with vintage reverbs, tape and tube saturation to emulate the sounds of the classic vinyl records.

With the release of lead single “BOP” off the new EP Neoteric Refulgence Vol. 1: Hip Hop, OD teams up with Chicago based rapper and producer Truth known as the driving force behind One Shadow who he was introduced to while working on a project for EMI production music UK which required him to source US rappers. “I love working with Truth, we’ve never met or even spoken on the phone, everything’s been done by email but we just get each other musically. It kinda also helps that sometimes I feel like I’m listening to a Jay-Z record due to his uncanny vocal similarities” says OD. The six track EP features futuristic artwork and musical production heavily influenced by Kanye West, Mike Dean, 070 Shake, J Cole, Wiz Khalifa but still finds it’s own musical space to define itself as a unique artistic statement. OD real name Owen Hunte, was born and raised till the age of 16 in Trinidad before moving to the UK to study Physics at University, but has always made American influenced Hip Hop although continuing to be based in London. “The interesting thing about this record is it was technically started over 8 or so years ago as one or two of the backing tracks are that old but I updated them with additional production and of course got Truth to record to them”, adds OD. The EP features guest vocals and songwriting by Harley Nixon on the more R&B influenced “Get Away” as well as vocals and writing by Kerem Basham on the much poppier “ Nobody Has to Know” which sounds more like a Wiz Khalifa /Gymclass Heroes record. Neoteric Refulgence Vol. 1: Hip Hop is available worldwide on all streaming and download platforms on Friday June 26th 2020.
The results are in and OD has landed the prestigious “Most Airplay Potential” Award for his track “2023” for BMG Production Music’s lockdown Sample Challenge. Out of 91 entries 15 were chosen. BMG Production Music and Tele Music will be putting out the final compilation with BMG’s profit share being donated to charity to help fight COVID-19. OD has just completed three Hip Hop Production music projects for EMI production music which are in the process of being released but while on lockdown OD has accepted the #BMGPMSAMPLE challenge to flip one of the samples from their catalogue. The resulting song which sees OD producing and rapping is about the current COVID-19 lockdown and is called 2023. Let’s hope this dream doesn’t become a reality.

Seems like every one and their pet poodle has been to Thailand - twice, or at least that’s what it felt like to me so I set my sights on visiting this incredible destination in 2017 to see what the fuss was about. OD is working on a new Jamaican influenced Music Production Project for EMI and is currently writing and producing tracks. He’s keen to hear from unsigned Jamaican influenced MCs and is looking forward to delivering this next project for EMI Music.
OD is looking to build on his list of international music placements such as Netflix’s “Dear White People”, NBA Live and Fight Night EA Sports Games and dozens of US youth TV shows with his new US Hip Hop / Rap project with EMI Production Music UK and is nearing completion of the album. Stay tuned for news of the album’s release once production is wrapped.

Additionally OD has produced and co-written a Soca/ Reggaeton/ R&B / Pop track for one of his long-term live event clients for their shows.
OD will continue work on the EMI project during February as well as other Production music assignments.
OD is currently accepting bookings for mixing projects from other producers, artists and labels looking for a more “international and polished sound”.

In between his professional drone, modelling, acting and recording gigs, OD has just completed three more music videos for clients including this new one for Monica Alcorano. Watch the video till the end to see the striking imagery the pair have conjured.
Adding to his already impressive list of ‘strings’, Music Producer / Writer OD Hunte has officially been qualified as a Drone Pilot by the UK’s CAA and has his PfAW which now entitles him to work commercially in the UK. OD has already put his pfAW to use doing music videos for several artists with the videos to be released shortly. OD has in the mean while been working on his own new genre of short film calling it “Drone Micro Drama”. The second instalment features more stunning aerial footage, sound effects and voices of two American actors. Check out Above Part 2 below.

After 14 years, OD Hunte went back to Trinidad, his place of birth, for an Über quick visit on December 26th 2015. 3 days was not nearly enough to capture the beauty of the island but he had a go.
